Each session is 45 minutes in length. The first session may run a little longer to make time for questions and to provide you with an opportunity to share your history and goals/wishes. Most sessions begin with you lying on a table. The table is firmer than a massage table and much wider. I will use touch and gentle movements to explore your current organization and to provide sensory input to suggest alternate movement patterns. I will also provide verbal instructions to guide you through movement sequences. There should be no pain, no stretching and no straining. All of the movements should feel easy, gentle and be done slowly.
Full clothing that you can move easily in without any restrictions. ie; no jeans, belts, or skirts. Please wear socks, tie your hair up, remove jewelry, watches and contact lenses. Bring glasses but be prepared to remove them for the lesson.
Responses vary in that you may feel extremely tired or you may feel energized. It is important that you provide space in your life to rest and be aware of these changes. Try not to overschedule yourself or your child and instead provide ample free time to allow these changes to integrate. You may also be very hungry or feel more satiated than usual. It is also common for emotions to come up, allow them to be released. Sometimes this may be happiness but also be prepared for tears and sad/angry emotions. If you have had pain or an injury and suddenly have no pain do not take advantage of this sudden freedom by pushing too hard too fast too son. Instead move slowly and be cautious with what activities you explore. Give yourself time to integrate and become accustomed to these new ways of moving before moving quickly and automatically.
Yes, it is quite normal for emotions to come up during or after a session. Acknowledge these emotions and allow space for them.
This is a learning method and as such it is ideal to do an intensive of lessons (6-10 lessons within 3-5 days). This provides the brain with frequent bursts of information. Typically after an intensive you or your child will integrate the changes for 3-6 weeks and have no lessons during that time.
Yes of course. This is a good opportunity to determine if this is the right modality for you. While I recommend intensives if there is space in my schedule I will permit single sessions. This will provide an opportunity to meet you and/or your child, ask questions and determine if we are a good fit. However, I do emphasize that outcomes are greater with more consistent lessons (intensives).
They are similar to an adult’s lesson but weaved into games and play if necessary. Sometimes they are loud and there is lots of movement. Sometimes they are shockingly quiet and the movements are so small by comparison. Your child may start sitting on your lap or if they are comfortable they can come onto the table. I will use touch and gentle movement to captivate their attention and build their awareness of their self through movement.
Each child is so different and I am happy to discuss this on the phone with you prior to the first lesson. Typically parents tell their child this is a movement lesson and I will be helping them to move better. You could ask them if there is something they would like to do better and then tell them that we are going to work on that (ie: running faster, doing math better etc.)
No. Anyone under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult for the entire lesson. This is for safety reasons, insurance reasons but also for the comfort of the child. It is important a child feels safe which is usually more so when parents are present.
When you are present I ask that you sit quietly and watch the lesson. This is a fantastic opportunity to watch how your child learns and interacts from an outsider perspective. Please do your best to watch without distracting your child.
Typically no. However, this depends on your insurance as each provider is different. Some children with certain designations are able to get funding and some health plans will cover Kinesiology or ABM Neuromovement®. Contact me with your particular details and I will share what current information I currently have.
ABM Neuromovement® is a learning based method and not a medical provider. Therefore, I am unable to assign medical codes or submit requests. I do not keep medical records and thus am unable to supply them.
I will provide you with a receipt with the number of lessons you received, the amount paid and the description of services provided as “neuromuscular reeducation” for you to submit to your health insurance company if you choose to.
During an intensive I recommend clients do not see other practitioners or participate in other modalities. This allows a client to be able to distinguish what is making a difference. If a client has three different modalities in one week it is hard to tell which one is helping. There is also the risk of the modalities having conflicting approaches that work against each other. Feel free to contact me for clarification or questions specific to you.

You can start immediately after birth. We will start gently with body awareness exercises and slowly build as you recover from your delivery.
Yes, definitely. Especially if you are a first time mom this time on your own can be priceless to learn the exercises and breath work. You cannot do an apnea when you are pregnant but there are so many intricate details to the postures that it is great to have those down before layering in the apnea. Then when you have your baby you can just add the apnea to your routine 4-6 weeks after delivery. If you opt for kinesiology services I will select exercises suitable for pregnancy.
The initial appointment will be a longer session where I ask you lots of questions specific to your health history and conduct an assessment of your current capabilities and movement patterns. Each following session will be 50 minutes in length. Typically I will start you with a body awareness exercise and then proceed into exercise or hypopressive posture instruction and build to a series of exercises. I will email you photos or recaps of what was done in each session and your homework prior to the next session. By the end of 8 sessions you will have a home program to do on your own 3-5 days a week.
es. It is entirely up to you whether you feel you can still get value out of each session with your child present. Due to scheduling I do have to keep sessions to 50 minutes
Something comfortable to move in. You can be bare foot or wear athletic footwear.
I strive to be on time and respectful of clients time and expect the same from my clients. I am a busy mother of 3 children so I completely understand daily struggles but also keep in mind my own childcare costs, rental costs and other overhead. With this in mind please be aware that I do have a cancelation policy. You are welcome to change or cancel any appointment up until 24hours prior. Within the 24hour window you will be charged for the session.
With the following risk factors you can still learn and benefit from the postures and breathing technique but you should not do the apnea.
- History or high risk of stroke
- pregnancy
- high blood pressure
- glaucoma
- hernia
